Is Success Jr Now a Musical Artist?
Young Haitian American diasporas have been on the rise representing the country of Haiti. At one point it was singer, Wyclef Jean, at the forefront of representing Haitians abroad. Fast forward to the 2010s, there has been a surge in Haitian artist success in Film and Music. One person that has been knocking on the door is comedian Success St Fleur Jr aka Success Jr.
A Haitian comic who depicts the upbringing of his life on his Instagram (@success_jr) has found himself on the right path. Recently inking a deal with Netflix, Success will also be working on a Comedy/ Musical EP to release this fall. A comedian taking a jab at music isn’t anything new as we’ve seen Eddie Murphy and Chris Rock do it, but Success Jr says he plans to take it to another level. Especially within his genre.
The EP is said to have a mixture of R&B and Kompa and even one of his comedy sets. We asked the reason for him to try music, his reasons were it has always been a dream of his to have a few songs. Since the pandemic has grounded all live performances so he asked his friend and business partner, Comedian Plus Pierre, to help with the project. He plans to name it AKASAN which is a dairy like drink that he used to drink as a child. It’s aimed to bring a sense of nostalgia like his Instagram/ TIKTOK and live performances.
