JamalTheCreator Turns The Tables For YouTube Rappers With New Single “This Is The Life”

Nowadays when you hear the word ”rapper”, you instantly think of a commonly trending artist like Lil Baby or Drake. You may even consider more of a party-like rapper such as Famous Dex or Playboi Carti. It’s a rare occasion that you would ever include a YouTube artist like JamalTheCreator. For many years now, YouTube rappers have been looked down on as “soft”, or “a joke”, because they were never known to hold a violent street resume. In the current Rap industry, you’re expected to be a gangster, or at least associate yourself with people who have street ties. Creators like PontiacMadeDDG and Deshae Frost have been prime examples of carrying this face card. Even after years of building a solid fan base and reeling in millions of views on their music videos, they still can’t seem to lose that title “YouTube Rapper”.

JamalTheCreator is one of many other YouTube rappers that has dealt with the common stereotype of being “too soft” just because he makes funny videos. What people don’t know is that while growing up, Jamal actually faced many legal cases dealing with criminal activity. He even reached a point where he was looking at a 20-year sentence for a street fight that took place in Atlanta when he was only 17-years old. He was charged with felony Aggravated Assault in June 2018, but the case was later resolved upon a plea deal. Jamal rarely discusses this topic, as he says it holds negative reminders, and that he’d “rather dwell on the positive things in life”. He mentioned that he’d rather use his past experiences to fuel him for success, and that’s exactly what he’s been doing.

When JamalTheCreator started his first YouTube channel with his friend, the main goal was to inspire viewers and show them that it’s possible to reach success from any circumstance. Since the start of his channel, he has gained millions of views through creating prank videos, and vlogs while building a loyal and sizeable fan base. Shortly after, Jamal revisited his interest in creating music through rapping. Since a kid, he looked up to groups like NWA and Bell Biv Devoe, pushing him to have the desire of creating raps. He initially did not know how to produce or master any of his music, so he never attempted to release any compositions.

Eventually, Jamal came to make connections with talented music professionals that would go on to help him stimulate his raps. Once he was able to get into the studio, JamalTheCreator began uploading many singles onto SoundCloud. The songs usually detailed the importance of looking at the positive aspects of our daily journey in life. Songs like “This Is The Life” and “Trust Issues” have picked up attention on SoundCloud and brought him even more fans. Instead of uploading music about his previous “street life”, he decided to put a twist on rap music as we know it.

His main goal has always been to inspire the youth and deface the stereotypical requirements of needing to be a “thug” in order to survive the rap world.
