The HUBB Arts & Trauma Center in Newark, NJ teams up with ThatHUBBLife ENT, LLC to present “8Mins46Secs of My Thoughts Out Loud”

This song and short film highlight the Black American struggle with police brutality and systemic racism and bias. This piece intentionally portrays vignettes of all-too-common scenes from the current Black/Brown experience and showcases the impact of this on those who have confronted them directly — in being brutalized — and those who must watch and listen as these events happen and are replayed in the media. In either case, the impacts weigh heavily on our bodies and our minds. Where often the emotional trauma is hardest to heal, yielding race-based traumatic stress, a new-ish diagnosis for old-fashioned oppression brought to light.

Join The HUBB, ThatHUBBLife ENT, LLC, Brick City Peace Collective, and Friends on September 12, 2020, for the filming of “8 Minutes and 46 Seconds of My Thoughts Out Loud”, Be a part of the movement, and help fight injustice and inequality by healing the world through Arts and Music!

As a preview to the upcoming filming on September 12th, please view “8 Minutes and 46 Seconds of My Thoughts Out Loud” raw live band video below that reflects the harsh reality of being in a Black or Brown person’s skin and the continuous threat of being annihilated in AmeriKKKa’s racist system of injustice and inequalities. The video depicts re-enactments of historical and present-day trauma that we experience on a regular basis because of our skin color and then we are expected to be unafraid of racist police and a system of injustice and inequality. In creating this video, we pray that all who see this will understand our pain–even if you are not Black or Brown– and react with intentional action. And stand in solidarity for the change that’s needed to Help Us, as a nation then as a world, to Become Better!
