Up and Coming Alternative Hip Hop Artist Kontent Debuts Music Video For His New Single “2015”

Rapper / Producer Kontent delivers an introspective and honest performance in his new music video for “2015.” The video perfectly underlines the melancholic vibe of the song, where the rapper talks about his first love, taking listeners back to their own personal experiences in a nostalgic way.

The music video for “2015” clearly emphasizes what the song is about: being alone with your thoughts while reflecting on the past. In the beginning Kontent finds himself alone in the middle of a meadow and ends the video standing by the seashore while facing the sunset. The narrative accompanied with a wide open setting emphasizes the simplicity in its storytelling and allows for the song’s melancholic production to be showcased. The way in which no other characters are presented in the video deeply expresses Kontent’s vulnerability in his thoughts, which greatly captures the introspective atmosphere of the song. “I wanted to rap from my past point of view when I helplessly fell in love. The verses demonstrate all the naive but heartfelt thoughts that I had back then and show a person that we’ve all been at one point in our life.” explains Kontent. “For me, it happened in the year 2015, for others it might have happened longer ago. Some might be going through it right now.”

Kontent’s low rap vocals in the verses flow smoothly over dreamy synth chords and heavy-hitting drums, demonstrating fearless vulnerability and a refreshing take on modern-day hip hop. His vocals in the chorus bring an uplifting spirit to the overall melancholic song, and allow for its holistic openness. Kontent was born and raised in South Tyrol, a German speaking minority region of Northern Italy, where he produced the hit single “Need You” by the artist Maxiz in 2017, which so far has accumulated over 3,000,000 Spotify streams. After working in Berlin as a producer for artists such as Donskoy, Revelle and Maxiz, he moved to Los Angeles in 2020 to pursue a solo career as an artist. Aside from “2015,” Kontent is set to release more singles in the second half of 2020.
