Elle Músa Shares Stunning New Double A-Side ‘Geminis/Merman’

Brisbane pop artist Elle Músa has shared a stunning double A-side, ‘Geminis’ / ‘Merman’. Driven by vibrant lyricism and melodies, ‘Geminis’ and ‘Merman’ both have nostalgic roots for Músa but are  delivered in a way that the listener can access and embrace the heartfelt nature as if they’re their own.

Discussing ‘Geminis’, Musa explains, ‘My mum, my partner and a number of my best friends are Geminis. The song is about the love I have for these people in my life and how I feel more vibrant and happy when I am with them. I hope that when people listen to this song they feel that sense of love they have for their own Family and friends and can feel moved by the heartfelt lyrics and melodies.’

On ‘Merman’, Musa details, ‘I remember writing this one morning after waking up to a perfect view of the sea. As I was thinking about the mysteries of the ocean, Mermaids and Merman came into my mind and I started to sing about the many dreams I have had about tidal waves and mystical creatures. I question whether my boyfriend and I were in past lives together and if we both ran from the huge tidal waves that changed the Earth. When Geoffrey Roberts (Edward R.) came to record this song he really took it to an amazing level with his guitar. As soon as it begins I feel like I am right by the sea, swimming and surfing all day with my lover.’

The double A-side is accompanied by the official video for ‘Geminis’. Filmed in Sydney last year with director Claudia Smith, Músa adds ‘We went to a couple of different beaches and just let it flow’.

With music that threads nostalgia with a blissful yearning for bright new experiences on the horizon, Elle Músa creates sounds that are equal parts musically exciting and warmly familiar. A multidisciplinary artist, Músa’s passion for music and songwriting has always maintained the strongest presence in her journey so far. As a trained vocalist and musician, Músa has been composing and performing original music in Australia and internationally for years prior to the release of her debut. While musical influences vary from Sinatra and Cohen to Blonde Redhead and Devendra Banhart, Músa’s wholly unique craft remains very much her own, as her travels and experiences writing abroad have galvanised the worldly energy of Músa’s sound. Músa’s strong artistic identity begun with a musical family supporting her from an early age and as she began her foray onto the stage through Australian indie group Founds, Músa’s songwriting and performance abilities grew and embraced its own identity.
