Reekado Banks links up with Wizkid on new single ‘Omo Olomo’

Reekado Banks continues to stretch the bandwidth of forthcoming project Off The Record, dropping another groovy cut in the form of ‘Omo Olomo’, featuring cultural icon Wizkid.

Jointly operating as a lo-fi sing-musing unit, Reekado and Wizkid float lightly over the spartan beat on ‘Omo Olomo’. Catching each other’s flows on cue and furthering the intersection of staggered, unruffled flows in Nigerian music, they profess their love for their muses with a textural understanding of what works. Starting out matted and whispered, the track goes up a notch with every passing second and closes out with Wizkid and Reekado’s voices providing a final flourish.

“‘Omo Olomo’ is a song of praise,” Reekado explains. “It’s funny when I put it like that but that’s what it is. Myself and Wizkid were showering praises on a girl whose beauty is praiseworthy.”

‘Omo Olomo’ marks Reekado’s second collaborative release in quick succession, following on from acclaimed single ‘Need More’. The track showcased Reekado’s curatorial instincts as he co-opted elements of Black Britain’s music with features from Kida Kudz and EO.

‘Omo Olomo’ expertly encapsulates what 2020 Reekado Banks is all about, serving as an insouciant primer of his musical strengths.
