Klassik Poet Looks To Maintain Balance On His Latest LP ‘Kontradiction’

Klassik Poet released an independent album called Before Things Get Weird. Today, the title alone could be considered prophecy, because it’s safe to say that these past 11 months have been.

Not only has COVID-19 taken over the world, but the killings of Ahmuad Arbery and George Floyd have set it ablaze. In the middle of a devastating global pandemic, we were viciously reminded that our race issue was FAR from over. So many of us risked our lives to crowd streets, fed up, protesting and rioting against a system that has undermined the lives of countless African Americans for centuries.

The White Plains, New York native, who has slowly built a name for himself by way of sold out NYC underground shows, radio interviews plus a European tour, felt like he was lost between two versions of himself, one where he’s an activist, standing in solidarity with his people and preaching positivity, and the other where he’s a confident borderline cocky rapper, immersed into the vices of a music industry he’s not completely familiar with just yet.

That internal struggle planted the seeds for what has become his latest lyrical efforts with his Kontradiction. The 8-track project is just under 30 minutes, the tape highlights the growth and overall intelligence of Klassik Poet. While his vulnerability in addressing personal shortcomings make him seem less self righteous and more human.
