Who is Lil Mav?

Up-and-coming NYC Producer Lil Mav has a distinctive sound and diverse creative background. He has been passionate about music ever since he was young, and some of his most important influences include seminal artists like Lil Wayne, T-Pain, Akon, Drake, Speaker Knockerz. He loves to create songs that are melodic but also energetic, going for a truly distinctive, one-of-a-kind vision. The Bronx native got his start in production when he was only 16. Then, he discovered the DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) FL Studio, it was only a matter of time before he fell in love with it and mastered it completely. 

Lil Mav’s popularity as a producer and music industry personality is skyrocketing, as his YouTube channel is currently counting over 10.000 subscribers, with more than a million views on his videos. Recently, Lil Mav worked with well-known artist Ron Suno, and he produced his well-received studio single, “Ball“. The track is a perfect example of what it’s like to produce great hip-hop music, highlighting Lil Mav’s versatility while focusing on creating sounds and beats that match the artist’s personality and vibe.

The song was also featured on NBA2K21, which will undoubtedly expose Lil Mav’s production excellence to many new listeners from all over the world.

This year, Lil Mav is focusing on collaborating with more artists, and he is even planning to work with some very big names in the music industry. his amazing talent and residence and because he has a strong following of supporters, who are just like a family to him. Lil Mav is ready to get back on the scene with more focus than ever before, taking his production to the next level and setting the bar higher.

Hype: Where you from and when did you fall in love with hip-hop? 

LM: I’m from Bronx, New York. I’ve always had a passion for music since I was very young. My mom used to be a singer & my sister always used to listen to lots of music, mainly hip-hop. So it grew on me.

Hype: Who are your musical inspiration/influences? 

LM: some of my most important influences include artists like Lil Wayne, T-Pain, Akon, Drake, Kayne West, 50 cent, and Speaker Knockerz.

Hype: What separates you from other creatives and what do you want to bring to the game?

LM: I’m a perfectionist and my style is very different and unique. I only work with people who I believe in & who believe in themselves. I feel like those two combinations are necessary in order to make great music.

Hype: What’s your favorite memory as a producer?

LM: I would have to say being in a studio session at Quad Studios with Fivio Foreign, Sosa Geek, Ron Suno & Fetty Luciano. It was nothing but good vibes and lots of energy. I had the opportunity to learn & see how working in a professional environment in the music industry. It felt like I was in a movie.

Hype: What are your currently working on?

LM: Just perfecting my craft and trying to be the best version of myself. I also have a lot in the works. I’ve been recently tapping in with a few well known artist  & a few upcoming artist around the city. Got a few big placements dropping this year.

Hype: What does success look like to you?

LM: Generational wealth, I want to be so successful that my kids and their kids won’t have to pay for college.

Hype: Where do you stand as a creative and  what’s  your biggest goal as a producer?

LM: My biggest goal is to create good music. I really have a passion for music. I want to create music that sticks around for years.

Hype: Any advice you can give for upcoming producers like yourself emerging in hip-hop?

LM: Stay humble, and don’t be afraid to take risk. In this industry patience is key. Just follow your gut and stay focus.

Hype: What’s next for you?

LM: This year, I’m focusing on collaborating with more artists in the music industry. The past year or so has been quite a challenge due to the global COVID-19 pandemic. This was a difficult time for artists and producers in general, and it still affects so many in this industry. But it also helped me develop new skills & work twice as harder.
