NLE Choppa Releases Emotional “Letter To My Daughter”

Just in time for Father’s Day, Memphis rap star NLE Choppa releases an emotional, introspective ode to his baby, “Letter to My Daughter.” The track, out now via No Love Entertainment/Warner Records, finds Choppa tapping into his reflective side to outline the ways in which his child has changed his life for the better. Over heavy piano chords, Choppa sets the mood for his heart-on-sleeve showcase, informing listeners this “might be the realest shit I ever wrote.” Choppa, 18, explores the maturity he’s found now that he’s responsible for another life. “Never let life lessons break you,” he raps. “Evaluate the mistake and just wait on your breakthrough.” Choppa learned from his mistakes so his daughter doesn’t have to experience the same struggle. “Even though shit got rough, I’m still praying for your mama,” he raps. “Hope you get to see my grandpa and my grandma.”

“Letter to My Daughter” continues a busy start to 2021 for Choppa. On April 1, he released his beloved “First Day Out,” a freestyle over SpotemGottem’s “Beat Box.” The video has since achieved over 47 million views on Youtube and the track has since been re-released as an official remix called “Beat Box 4.” Back in January, Choppa dropped “Picture Me Grapin,’” which featured a video paying homage to Tupac Shakur. The visual was released at 11:11 AM on January 22, playing up Choppa’s continued fascination with numerology.

Choppa continues to push himself and the culture forward. He crashed the Top 10 of the Billboard 200 with his debut album, Top Shotta. He achieved a record run of 24 weeks atop Billboard’s Emerging Artists Chart. To date, he has gathered over 5 billion global streams, 10 RIAA-certified plaques, a spot on the 2020 XXL Freshman list, and a nomination for the 2020 BET Hip-Hop Awards’ Best New Artist. With “Letter to My Daughter,” Choppa displays the growth that makes him one of the most exciting MCs to follow. Every song is a step forward.
