Surviving to Thriving: Cooli Highh’s Inspirational Tale of Bouncing Back from Tragedy

Trauma is never something we wish upon any person, but it inevitably happens to the best of us. This was the case for artist and musician Cooli Highh, who had to endure the worst possible trauma. Still, the artist bounced back and lived to tell a motivational tale of resilience through one’s darkest moments.

At only three years old, Cooli had to go through torment after being unjustly maltreated and tortured as a child. He was kidnapped and burned alive by criminals then left to die in the middle of nowhere. And while he miraculously survived the ordeal and lived to tell the tale, it left physical and emotional scars that form who he is until this day.

Yet, despite the misery and strife, he has chosen to rise from his past and throw all that he is into what he loves most—music. “The obstacles I’ve had to endure and overcome were overwhelming,” shares Cooli Highh. “I was told I’ll never walk, play a sport, work a job, and much more.” But his origins have become a strong and resilient identity. Now the artist refers to himself as the MC who emerged from fire and now spits out flames. “I want to show that I’m more than my scars,” the artist adds.

As a musician and content creator, Cooli has been on the rise as of late. He recently launched a collaboration project with artists Starlito and Young Dolph in a song entitled “OG Kush—Remix.” Today, the track has reached over 147,000 streams on Spotify and is still growing in popularity to this day. Collaborations and partnerships are the staples of Cooli’s careers. He likes to join forces with artists from all walks of life, including Sauron, Batman, Sachy, AyoWithTheMayo, DeeB, Level, Urban Nerd, and many more.

Some of Cooli Highh’s other well-known songs include tracks like “Cold Soul,” “Flowers,” “For The Game,” “Piranha,” “Locomotive,” “Big Face Hunnits,” “Arkansas Anthem M.M.M.,” “Worked So Hard,” and “Medicine,” to name a few. When asked what has inspired him to create such powerful music, he attributes his creativity to two things. First, he refers to his scarred past. Despite all he has been through as a child and growing up, he has formed a persevering nature and strong character. These would become the foundation of his work ethic and passion. Additionally, he talks about the necessity of creating a name for oneself to achieve his lofty goals.

“You cannot be an artist and not have your own brand,” he explains. “It’s how you establish yourself. For an artist, I guess you can say it’s like a calling or business card.”

Despite all his musical success, Cooli shares that his best music still lies before him. At the starting point of the COVID-19 pandemic, he released a track called “Road to Fame,” which would accelerate in popularity and hit thousands of streams in a short period. Today, he’s gearing up for more releases as he continues to develop material that he knows will delight rap and hip-hop fans from all over.

Cooli Highh has recently launched a mixtape entitled “The Trap Tape Volume 1” and will soon be releasing Volume 2 in the coming days, most likely in November. Stay up to date on Cooli’s music and life by following him on Instagram and visiting his website.
