Maj3sty Explains His Last Conversation With DMX

On April 9, 2021, the music industry was at a standstill by the sudden passing of music legend, DMX. North Carolina’s Emerging Icon, Maj3sty explains what it was like exchanging messages with DMX on Instagram. The encounter took place on October 28, 2020, and Maj3sty walks us through the life-changing moment.

“I remember reaching out to him, letting him know that he was the first rapper I listened to, Without hesitation, I added ‘I’m interested in working with you. Hope to hear from you.’ I never thought that he would reply but, he did and at first I kind of hesitated until I remembered that it was him. He messaged back and said, ‘Yo what’s good? See you workin. I’m looking to help a few upcoming artists get their music out there and heard….’ and it went from there. At the time I was working a job that didn’t have too much flexibility so, I wasn’t able to take the opportunity. Moving forward after that, I never forgot about that day, even though it was a brief conversation it was my first time engaging with someone of his status.”
