MTV Names Mae Muller as Global PUSH Artist for the Month of January

MTV PUSH names songstress Mae Muller as its featured Global PUSH Artist, for the month of January, to kick off the new year. The North London native opens up about her musical journey, when she first began writing and releasing music at nineteen years old. Muller explains how she feels like she’s currently “evolving” as an artist, and the unreleased music she’s now making is more vulnerable, which is exciting because there is still “room for it [her music] to change a little bit.” She also shares that the huge, unexpected success of her single “Better Days” in the U.S. has caused her to shift her creative process and perspective, and that fans can expect a new album from the lush vocalist in 2022.

On her upcoming album that’s in the works:

“Hopefully in 2022, you’ll get an album from me. There’s so much music that’s in the safe… and I’m not going to lie, I thought it was pretty much done. Then we released “Better Days” and it kind of blew up in a way we weren’t really expecting. Especially in the U.S., so it’s kind of changed my thought process a bit. All of the songs I have, I still love them so much. But I want to make sure that with my new way that I’m looking at it, I’m looking at it in a much bigger way. It’s not quite done yet but it’s definitely in the works and I’m very, very excited.”

On her optimistic mindset and artistic evolution:

“Anything is possible in the beginning. You don’t know where it’s going to go, you don’t know what’s going to happen and it’s so exciting. I feel like now, there’s been this new release of life and that’s how I feel. I feel excited again.”
“Making music and being in the industry is so draining at times. You get so many setbacks and it’s difficult. I was at a point where I was just tired and sad a lot of the time. I just want to remember that feeling, whenever I start comparing myself again, which I’m sure will happen at some point. I want to remember the excitement because that’s what it’s really all about. We’re making music for a living, that’s pretty cool.”
