Platoon Signee Kiddo K Drops Debut Single ‘Pablo Escobar’

Kenneth “Kiddo K” Alexander is a Louisiana-born rapper known for his unique sound and hyper-realistic lyrical styling. After moving from New Orleans to Monroe following the Hurricane Katrina disaster of 2005, Kiddo feels a strong sense of attachment to both cities, which features heavily throughout his songs. After signing to the Platoon label in 2021, Kiddo is slated to release his debut mixtape “Diary of a Project Kid” later this year. “Diary of a Project Kid” is led by the freshly released single “Pablo Escobar” with the follow-up single “Wide Awake,” set to debut this fall.

In 2019 Kiddo began posting freestyle videos online and was able to focus more fully on pursuing a career in music once school became virtual during the COVID-19 pandemic. Speaking to real-life events, Kiddo’s songs weave narratives through the trials and opportunities that have affected his family and community in the hopes that regardless of background or upbringing, listeners will be able to appreciate his experiences and be connected with him through them.

A prolific creator, Kiddo has amassed almost 80K followers organically through his videos and works to release new music each week. Dedicated to greatness, Kiddo attributes his drive, determination, and steadfast loyalty to his vision to his own work ethic and wants to reach as many different people as possible through his music.

Known for his unique sound and hyper-realistic style, Kiddo attracted the attention of Dionte Goodlett, Head of A&R for Platoon, after posting new viral videos online each week.

“I believe that life is short and money is long – it’s a short and simple outlook, but has both the ugliness and beauty of my experiences reflected in it. When I was approached by Platoon, it was an offer that could take me to the next level and help me achieve the success I want,” said Kiddo. “I wasn’t going to turn that down, especially when I know how short life is, and where I’m from, people don’t get this type of chance.”

“Kiddo’s drive and determination became evident to me when I saw his promise to drop weekly videos. For a seventeen-year-old to make that kind of commitment and do so successfully really sold it for me,” said Dionte Goodlett, Head of A&R for Platoon. “Kiddo has an extremely unique sound and creates such power and resonance through his music; we couldn’t be more excited to launch his debut project and work alongside him moving forward.”

Speaking to real-life events, Kiddo’s songs weave narratives through the trials and opportunities that have affected his family and community, with strong connections to the cities of New Orleans and Monroe.

Platoon was founded in 2016 by Denzyl Feigelson, and the multi-award-winning boutique artist services company has identified groundbreaking talent from around the world, including Billie Eilish, Mr. Eazi, Adekunle Gold, Ayra Starr, Aaron Smith, Peter Raeburn, Lil Silva, and more. A new member of this impressive list, Kiddo is dedicated to greatness – and attributes his drive, determination, and steadfast loyalty to his vision to his own work ethic.
