Bred Hampton: Photographer and Filmmaker “Making Something Out of Nothing”

Bred Hampton, filmmaker and photographer, would like to encourage people to pursue their passions in life and not allow themselves to be held back by fear of failure or other limitations. Hampton says that his photographic work is so different from others on the market today because he doesn’t put limits on what he can do and where he can go with [his] photography. Instead of setting himself up with these unnecessary limitations, Hampton allows himself to explore his creativity and find his unique style in his photos.

How Did he Get Started In Photography?

Despite being a self-taught photographer and filmmaker, he’s loved the field from a young age. As a child, he never imagined owning a Camera; initially, he didn’t even have a camera, but one day, he was sitting at his desk at his old job and thought, today, I’m buying a camera. Getting to an electronics store, he watched tons of tutorials on how to handle a camera and began asking people in his city if they would agree to be photographed by him. Gradually, his talent and client base grew, leading to collaborations with some of the most prestigious brands in the world.

What Is his Secret To Shooting Great Photographs?

There are no secrets to shooting great photographs. It comes down to understanding light, composition, subject, and story. Have an idea of what you want the photograph to say or show, but be open to what the picture can become. Be in tune with your surroundings and have a sense of wonderment when looking at the world around you. And the major thing is practice. Keep taking pictures and trying new things because that’s how you grow as a photographer and filmmaker. Remember, it’s not about perfection. It’s about creativity.

What is the main Challenge in his life?

The main challenge in Bred’s life is staying relevant, never getting complacent, and always learning. Because there is always something more to learn, he says you never want to feel like you are good enough. He also mentions the importance of surrounding yourself with other people who make you better. He realizes that success comes with many naysayers, but he’s determined to keep his sights on the prize. As he continues to work hard and stay focused, Bred hopes that one day, he will be remembered for creating art instead of just photographing it.

Hampton is a filmmaker, photographer and what makes him uniquely qualified to speak about success in these fields is his drive to constantly improve. He took it upon himself to teach himself everything he could from other photographers on the internet and in books. Now he is working with some of the biggest brands collaborating on their upcoming projects.
