Toronto Rapper Avalanche The Architect the Greatest Lyricist You Never Heard of

Toronto rapper Avalanche The Architect is no stranger to controversy, his new song titled “Nigga Nigga Nigga Nigga Shoot Shoot Kill” has just stirred up a boatload of it! This 5-minute and 40-second wartime anthem has 57 references to violence, that is literally more than 10 references per minute! But don’t get it twisted, despite the violent nature of the song, it is a masterclass in metaphors, similes, double entendres, clever wordplay, and punchlines that would knock world-class boxers off their feet. “I ain’t giving you chances when I give you a shot” or “Rubix cube the way I’m spinning the block” this goes on for over 5 minutes.

This song is reminiscent of Canibus’s 100 bars back in the late ’90s. Avalanche is probably the most slept-on lyricist in the game. I believe this is because of the deep loud rough voice he delivers these bars of fury sometimes overshadowing his next-level lyricism. I would put him up there with the likes of Big Pun, Canibus, Lloyd Banks, Lil Wayne, and Jadakiss if you are talking about bar-heavy lyrical savages.

What makes his music enjoyable is you know that he isn’t making up stories he hasn’t lived. Like his line “There ain’t a social club in the city that don’t know me, ask the mob I’m doing contract kills all by my lonely” not saying he’s a contract killer for the mob but when I caught up with Avalanche for an interview it was at a Portuguese cafe/social club on College street, a part of the city in Toronto Canada known for “Soprano” type activities if you know what I am saying. I was taken aback by how comfortably he blended in as a black person in that environment. Avalanche explained his name comes from his martial arts coach who said when he fought it was similar to an Avalanche and his peers in his old neighborhood called him the Architect because of how he had friendships with every social group.

Hanging with Avalanche for the day allowed me to see the Architect side for sure! After the social club, I found myself at a biker clubhouse party where he appeared to be the man of honor which brought my mind back to his song “Lyrical Mastery” where he says “I’m at the clubhouse with a bunch of 1 percenters your on clubhouse talking about how you got steppers” it becomes more and more apparent Avalanche was not just rapping but giving the listener a glimpse into his world.

In closing I would just say don’t sleep on Avalanche The Architect, this is the most real rapper I have ever met whose raps match his personality and life.Blogs like Vlad tv and Dj Akademiks seem to be afraid of real rappers like Avalanche which is the problem with the game so I hope this gives him the recognition he deserves.
