Da Bizzy featuring The Cofields & Emcee N.I.C.E. – Ike

Ike, a new song inspired by Afro-Gospel and Afro-Hip-Hop artist Chinonso Basil Nwamuruamu, musically known as “Da Bizzy Onyemmeri,” proudly exclaims that Jesus is Lord! In fact, that’s where it all started. Ike, meaning “power” in the Igbo language, was released on February 10, 2023, on all digital outlets. It is a collaboration between Nigerian South Africa-based artist Da Bizzy, husband and wife CHH duo The Cofields from the United States, and national recording artist Emcee N.I.C.E.

According to Da Bizzy, the song concept came out of a grateful heart to God, expressing gratitude to God, who is the King of Kings. It originated with his lyrics, “Jesus Is Lord, glory to God!” His desire was to tell it to the world, for there is no one else like Him. The song is a form of evangelism to the world, letting the world know about Jesus and the power of God. Then came the beat, produced by South African producer ProMarck.

Da Bizzy hit up his longtime producer ProMarck of Johannesburg and inquired about a production, which he then created from scratch after receiving a voice note as a reference. Da Bizzy had the track produced to include three verses, anticipating his feature with husband and wife Christian Hip-hop duo, The Cofields. When the fiery hip-hop beat came, Da Bizzy momentarily questioned if he would be able to do it, struggling with the thought that he’s not a rapper. But after praying and seeking God, he began to receive inspiration from the Holy Spirit. He played the beat, and the Spirit of God gave him a new verse and chorus – “Ike ohhhhh! Ike! There is power in the Name of Jesus!”

The proclamation, “Ike ohhh,” was like announcing and bringing Jesus into the world! Everything is about Jesus. There is power, healing, and deliverance in the Name of Jesus! As referenced in Romans 10:13, “Whoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

Collaborating with The Cofields & Emcee N.I.C.E. Da Bizzy was actually browsing Facebook around the weekend of The Gospel Hip-Hop Awards in 2022 when he found The Cofields and listened to their latest song “Royalty.” He loved The Cofields. He soon connected with Calvin and Kimberly, and they formed a familial bond that led to this musical collaboration. He felt that they connected by the power and mercy of God. After receiving both Calvin and Kimberly’s verses, he and his producer exclaimed that this was fire! And the rest became history. Each artist came in their way, providing melodious harmonies and background vocals to their verses, which were placed throughout the production. Da Bizzy explained he was blown away at how the song began to get such a great response.

When manager Vonzell “VZ” Washington heard the track, he immediately loved it and said Emcee N.I.C.E. needs to feature on the track. After hearing it, the legendary recording artist agreed that it was fire and a no-brainer. He added a culminating verse that speaks faith over fear and acknowledges how God gives him peace. Needless to say, the song is a masterpiece!

The song, “Ike” feat. The Cofields & Emcee N.I.C.E., will be performed live in Johannesburg, South Africa, on Sunday, March 26th, at Theater on the Square located at Nelson Mandela Square. The Ike Concert is the album launch concert for Da Bizzy, featuring The Cofields. The track can be purchased or streamed via all digital outlets such as iTunes, Spotify, Apple Music, etc.
