Filmmaker Dave Brown Celebrates His First Indie Night Film Festival

Atlanta recently celebrated its first Indie Night Film Festival, a monthly event that aims to promote emerging filmmakers and provide opportunities for dialogue with industry professionals. The festival was hosted by actor Morris Chestnut, alongside support from established actors and producers.

The Indie Night Film Festival was founded by Dave Brown, who’s also a part of Jamie Foxx’s management team and was initially a weekly event in Los Angeles. The success of the festival led to Brown bringing a monthly festival to Atlanta, where he studied at Morehouse College. A few celebrity guests consisted of actor Jill Marie Jones (Girlfriends), actor and Producer Terri J. Vaughn, actor Karon Joseph Riley (Saints & Sinners), actor Tre Rogers (BMF), actor (Finding Happy), Clifford Powell (Ray) J Young MDK (Lola 2) Javon Johnson (The Oval), Roberto Sanchez (2 Fast 2 Furious).

The festival enables filmmakers to showcase their work and make connections with important
Industry figures, and expand their networks. Additionally, events in select cities across the United States give creatives who are unable to attend other major film festivals a chance to experience something similar.

One success story of the Indie Night Film Festival is that of filmmaker Juel Taylor. Brown and his producing partners found Taylor, his film, exciting and offered to sign him to CAA. After securing a contract, Taylor went on to write the screenplay for “Creed II,” “Space Jam 2,” and then directed his film “They Cloned Tyrone,” starring Jamie Foxx. The Indie Night Film Festival is an important event in the film industry for providing a platform for emerging filmmakers and creatives to interact with established figures. It enables them to share their work, develop networks and have access to mentoring from professionals.

The festival promises to be a regular occurrence in Atlanta and other cities across the country, bringing a diverse range of voices and addressing important gaps in the industry. If you’re a filmmaker, this should definitely be on your must-do list! More information at https://indienightfilmfestival.com/
