The pulse of Atlanta reverberates through the blades of Meleyen’s Sports Barbershop and owner Meleyen Tengben, a dynamic haven where fades aren’t just fades—they’re statements. Nestled within the heart of Atlanta and brimming with an energy that transcends mere haircuts, this establishment is more than a grooming destination; it’s a sanctum where the rhythm of clippers syncs with the beat of urban expression.

Founded by Meleyen Tengben, affectionately known as Mellyp, Meleyen’s Sports Barbershop has emerged as a hub for the discerning, attracting both local and national icons seeking an experience steeped in authenticity and community and not just a simple haircut.

Asked about the remarkable journey, Mellyp beams with pride, recounting the milestone moments and star-studded encounters that have shaped their narrative. “I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to cut Tip ‘T.I.’ Harris,” Mellyp shares, a sentiment underscored by his childhood idolization of the iconic Atlanta native. And that’s just the beginning—the roster of noteworthy clientele extends to NBA stars like Chet Holmgren, D’Angelo Russell, Jalen Johnson, Jarred Vanderbilt, Jalen Suggs, Jaden McDaniels and a host of other stars from the sports and entertainment world.

The shop, now in its fifth year, is a testament to Meleyen’s commitment to the craft and his community. “Our biggest accomplishment,” says Mellyp, “is giving back to our community and nurturing the aspirations of our youth.” It’s not just about haircuts; it’s about fostering dreams and empowering the next generation. “We don’t aim to dominate; we aim to serve.”

When asked which 3 artists you’d like to see in your chair in the future, Mellyp said, “Lord willing I would like to see Lil Baby in my chair one day, I feel that we would have a great conversation. Future is an Atlanta native and I would like to see him in my chair, and last but not least Meek Mill, he is my favorite artist at the moment.”

Mellyp has developed Meleyen’s Sports Barbershop into an establishment that isn’t just a normal destination to get a haircut—it’s an embodiment of reshaping urban culture, a nurturing ground for dreams, and a testament to the power of dedication and community.
