Miley Cyrus Stars in New Dolce & Gabbana Eyewear Campaign

Singer-songwriter Miley Cyrus has lent her face and voice to fashion house Dolce & Gabbana for the brand’s latest eyewear campaign. In a bold, red-themed photoshoot, the “Flowers” singer showcases Dolce & Gabbana’s women’s eyewear as part of its spring/summer 2024 collection. The collection features a range of eyewear designs, including a pair of oversized Sharped acetate sunglasses with crystal-embellished cat-eye frames. There are also Barbie-inspired clear pink acetate shades with matching pink lenses and a futuristic frameless pair of sunglasses with Dolce & Gabbana’s D&G logo in full bling.

On her part, Cyrus perfectly fit the sensual theme of the campaign and photoshoot, sporting wet, slicked-back hair by hairstylist Bob Recine with subtle makeup courtesy of MUA James Kaliardos and manicurist Miho Okawara. Sprawled in various stylish poses on disheveled red sheets, Cyrus completes her look by wearing sultry lingerie.

As a songwriter, Cyrus was also behind the campaign’s soundtrack titled “Heart,” which she sang for the new advert.

Dolce & Gabbana: Branding and design

For their part, Dolce & Gabbana has long made its mark in fashion and pop-culture history. Before Miley Cyrus, the Italian fashion house announced celebrity Kylie Jenner as the face of their spring/summer 2023 eyewear campaign. In contrast to Cyrus’ photoshoot, the 2023 campaign featured the influencer-celebrity in a nighttime photoshoot at a Californian villa swimming pool. However, the two photoshoots shared the same Dolce & Gabbana trademark sense of seduction and style. The campaign and photoshoot also featured Italian actor Michele Morrone.

Based on the two recent eyewear campaigns, the brand has successfully established a rich but subtle, sultry aesthetic through its offerings. Today, Dolce and Gabbana sunglasses come in various designs, colors, and lens styles to fit different lifestyles and activities. Like the new pink acetate frames introduced in Cyrus’ campaign, fashion enthusiasts can find the DG4416, which takes on a bold, rectangular silhouette with the D&G branding standing out in silver on the frames’ chunky temples. For more subdued looks, you can also find the aviator-esque DG 4354, which features a more subtle take on the brand’s logo over the nose bridge and temples.

The brand’s range of eyewear design choices manifests perfectly in Miley Cyrus, whose Disney-formed career has gone through different vibes and aesthetics through the years. Whether flashy, blinged-out shades akin to the singer’s “Bangerz” era or the more sleek Sharped silhouette matching the singer’s successful “Flowers” run, Cyrus fully embodies Dolce & Gabbana’s vision for spring/summer 2024.

Miley Cyrus and sunglasses

Miley Cyrus and sunglasses go a long way back. As mentioned above, her prolific discography often features strikingly different vibes and looks from the singer, matching the varied range of genres she has explored. More recently, Cyrus channeled “The Matrix” movies when she wore a pair of Oakley shades while performing at Lollapalooza Chile. The singer completed her rockstar look with leather Ganni boots, black leather gloves, silver hoop earrings, and sparkly blue eye shadow. A complete turnaround from her D&G looks, the pair of Oakleys Cyrus sported were a mono lens, a shield-like silhouette that harkens back to early 2000s movies and even 80s retro.

The album art for the critically acclaimed “Flowers” featured the singer wearing sleek, black-framed sunglasses. The same pair also features heavily in the accompanying music video and most of her stage looks.

Of course, Cyrus is no stranger to bold looks. The pop star recently showed up on the Grammys red carpet wearing a gown made of 14,000 gold safety pins in another throwback to the 80s by wearing Farrah Fawcett-style hair. Beyond the 80s, the safety pin dress blended 1920s flapper and ancient Egyptian goddess.

Ultimately, the combination of Miley Cyrus’ eccentric fashion style and Dolce & Gabbana’s bold vision for fashion is an exciting and sexy mix.
