Malin Pettersen Releases New Album “Trouble Finding Words”

With an eternal urge to explore and a modernized soundscape, Malin Pettersen is ready to show off a new side of herself. Pettersen has been in the studio with producer Martin Horntveth (Jaga Jazzist) and has come out with a soundscape that both sounds new and fresh, while also nodding to music from Malin’s childhood in the 90s. The enthusiasm and commitment to the new song material shines through clearly and distinctly throughout the project. Trouble Finding Words is like meeting Malin for the first time. The musical references on the album are diverse, including a lot of 80s and 90s pop and R&B. Sonically, the album may resemble a mix of Kacey Musgraves, Solange and TLC, to give an impression of what the listener can expect.

Although the style is slightly different, Pettersen’s distinctive vocals are still easily recognizable. It’s no secret that she has one of Norway’s best voices, which she shows to her advantage on the new songs. The urge to explore and the excitement over new musical friends and acquaintances have led to a number of exciting collaborations on the album. The aspiring soul star Stefanos Yowhannes guests on “Crying”, Sofie Tollefsbøl from Fieh guests on “Lost You”, Mall Girls Beth MacBride guests on “Life” while 17-year-old Bergljot Bjella persuades greatly with her contribution on “Cry if I Want To”.

With her two releases on Die With Your Boots On Records, Malin Pettersen has become a popular artist in Norway and a name people notice internationally. The overwhelming response from the public, press and industry has resulted in a Spellemann Award, appearances on Lindmo, Senkveld and Kåss Til Kvelds, praise from media such as Billboard, Rolling Stone Magazine, Forbes and much more. In 2023, she is ready to rock the Øya Festival with her new material.

Trouble Finding Words will be released on Die With Your Boots On Records October 20th 2023.
