Mark Mackay Unveils Vibrant New Single “Dreaming in Color” and Announces Upcoming Album

Earning supporters from Nashville to Colorado, Singer-songwriter Mark Mackay just released a powerful highly anticipated new single “Dreaming in Color” which is ready to set the music industry on its collective ear. Mackay has been electrifying audiences on stages across the nation and his momentum is skyrocketing. Known for his guitar-driven American Music, Mackay has cultivated a loyal multi-genre following through his relentless touring schedule, which includes headlining slots at concerts, fairs, festivals, and tours, as well as opening for renowned artists such as REO Speedwagon, Richie Sambora, Blake Shelton, and Tim McGraw, among others. Talk about a workhorse, his current tour lined out after the jump has this dynamo on the road through August and we’re told he’s not done being routed yet!!!

With a string of successful indie releases under his belt, Mackay has recently linked up with Bungalo Music and Film /Universal Music Group, marking an exciting new chapter in his career. His lead single, “Meant for This,” showcases Mackay’s heartfelt lyrics enveloped in rich harmonica melodies, slide guitar riffs, and infectious choruses.

For his upcoming album, Mackay has assembled a team of accomplished musicians to join him at Universal Music’s East Iris Studios. “We threw out the rule book,” Mackay explains. “To craft a sound that was both rock and roadhouse; historic and contemporary.” Collaborators include Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame honoree Jeffrey Steele, Ted Russell Kamp from the Shooter Jennings band, and multiple ACM Guitarist of the Year nominee Adam Shoenfeld, whose production expertise and stellar guitar work are integral to the project.

Drawing inspiration from his California roots and musical influences ranging from Laurel Canyon to Bakersfield, Mackay’s new album represents a full-circle moment in his journey as a singer-songwriter. “I came to Hollywood writing narrative storyteller songs; then a six-year journey to try to write and record down the middle. Now, with more maturity and skills, I come back with the genuine authenticity of what I set out to do,” he reflects.

In addition to his studio endeavors, Mackay continues to captivate audiences with his live performances, including a recent 36-show nationwide “Summer Slowdown Tour” and an upcoming Christmas tour featuring sit-down theaters and a family-friendly atmosphere. As he follows the rhythms of the road, Mackay illuminates each stage with his white-hot brilliance, embodying the spirit of his latest single, “Dreaming in Color.”

Speaking about the inspiration behind the single, Mackay shares, “I wrote it after hearing a podcast that some people can only dream in black and white. We thought of the hook ‘dreaming in color’ from that.” Collaborating with two-time #1 hit songwriter CJ Solar, Mackay crafted a song that pays homage to the iconic 70s Laurel Canyon rock tunes while infusing it with his own unique style. “It’s been my favorite song to play out since I wrote it because it has some very unpredictable chords and a great hook,” he adds.

As Mark Mackay continues blazing a trail in the music industry, fans can catch him live on tour dates across the country, with current dates (as of this writing) taking him all the way into August, and we suspect supporters and promoters alike will be clamoring for more appearances this year!
