Pop Star Chad Post Releases “STATIC” EP

Born and raised in Connecticut, before relocating to NYC, Chad Post has always seen himself as a writer first and foremost. From screenplays and novels, to poetry, he has had an affinity for the written word for most of his life. His first release was the 2017 book “Death by Poetry: And the Lies About Me.” His love for music, however, notably took shape at a very early age. Post recalls belting out 90s power ballads in the back of his mother’s car at the age of five, with a pair of headphones on, his mind immersed in the melody and production. Just a few years later, he was writing his own songs: “I just wrote all the time. Even while not confident in my singing ability. When I started taking singing lessons again, I brought some songs I had written to my vocal coach and she really saw some potential in my writing. It all sort of came from that.”

As a solo artist, his vision is expansive, and he’s been releasing a steady stream of singles, EPs, and LPs every year since 2018. Exploring a range of genre influences under the Pop umbrella, from Hip Hop and R&B, to Soul and Rap, Post is trying to build something that stands out, beyond the music itself. “I hope that in the world of pop music, I can delve a little deeper into an aesthetic that people resonate with. I hope it is never about a single or a single piece of work, rather it is about a feeling people get when consuming my art.”

The latest entry in his catalog is the EP, STATIC, which Post describes as a departure from his previous material. “There is a very current, yet dark pop sound that drives this project. …I would say STATIC is the sound between the music. For me, the project was less about writing a really poppy or catchy song and more about emotion and feel.” Finding that precise feel took some time. Some of the songs were written prior to the pandemic and before his last LP, 2021’s Kingdom + Exile. While working with producer/engineer Aria Jay, they were able to formulate the sound and aesthetic of the new EP. Post describes it as capturing “the feeling of being lost, but simultaneously being found–in a world of music.”

On his lead singles, “Safe Keeping” and “Cold Front,” Chad Post doesn’t waste a moment, delivering sticky hooks directly to your ears from the jump. These new songs are a sumptuous slice of R&B-infused, modern pop–the sound of an artist on the verge of something big. And just as Post is able to find closure in keeping the memory of a former lover safely within a melody, listeners will surely find it easy to lose themselves in the sound of STATIC.
