0Rise Against’s Tim McIlrath On The New “Nowhere Generation” Album, Hockey, Skid Row & More
Comprised of rhythm guitarist/vocalist Tim McIlrath, bassist Joe Principe, guitarist Zach Blair and drummer Brandon Barnes, Rise Against is known for its explosive live shows and its outspoken, socially-conscious lyrics that speak to the mood of our time. To date, Rise Against has amassed 5 top 10 albums on Billboard’s Top 200 chart and 6 top 10 singles on its Hot 100 chart. The band’s gold-certified single “Savior” alone has accumulated nearly half-a-billion streams (and counting).
Rise Against is back with a provocative and dynamic new album, Nowhere Generation, the group’s first new studio effort in 4 years. On this new release, the outspoken band points a finger at big business and politics for stacking the social and economical deck against Millennials’, Gen Y’s, and Gen Z’s pursuit of “The American Dream.” Its 11 songs were inspired in part by input from band members’ young children and Rise Against’s community of fans. Following the release of 4 singles to digital outlets, the full Nowhere Generation album was released on June 4, 2021 via Rise Against’s new label Loma Vista Recordings and Canada’s leading music company Universal Music Canada.
On July 6, 2021, I had the pleasure of speaking with Rise Against’s Tim McIlrath about Nowhere Generation, life during COVID-19, future band plans, hockey, musical influences, and plenty More. Additional information about McIlrath and Rise Against can be found here, here, here and here.
