Every week our radio partners ApolloNightLA Radio Show brings us a new and interesting artist as their “Artist of the Week.” This week we get to meet Model/Entertainer Donte Kentrell who’s career is growing by leaps and bounds.

Donte Kentrell’s modeling career began in New York but he has recently transferred his talent to all markets. He has a long list of accolades consisting of working for Nike, Adidas, Timberlands, Tommy Hilfiger, Popular Club magazine, Family Life, David’s Bridal, Reading Revolution ( TV special ), Adidas billboard, and runway shows.

He has recently been working on his music versatility which he has created a hybrid style of Classic R&B and modernized hit-making. The most recent mixtape, “Trill Love” has received the response we’ve expected. By giving datpiff.com the exclusive, Donte was able quickly rise to mixtape of the week. This project’s feedback and downloads has reached multiple demographics across the United States

Donte Kentrell is a true triple threat that is bound to make a prominent impact on the entertainment industry. Follow the progression of his overall brand. You will have the luxury of watching a major shift in the world come to fruition.

From the outside looking in, who is Donte Kentrell?

Donte Kentrell is an average guy who trying to make it and won’t stop until I do.

What brought you to the entertainment industry, music specifically?

Well to be honest my grandmother would play Sam Cooke and Jackie Wilson all day long in the house and on road trips. Just to see how happy it made her I knew what I wanted to do, and that was to touch people and make them happy. I seen that’s what music makes possible.  So I always try to stay true to being real with my music and making it relatable to people.

What do you want people get from your music?

I want people to get to know me, the real me! They’ll get to see I’m a versatile artist, I sing, rap, and write my own music.  I’m very transparent so people can see me and all my flaws.

Tell us about your current project and your ApolloNightLA “Artist of the Week” single “Wussup.”

My latest project which was executive produced by PD3music, “Trill Love 2”  is out right now, is available on all digital stores. The “Wussup” single is a song that get you turnt while getting ready for the club or kickback.

What has been your greatest professional achievement so far?

Being the artist of the week and being featured in “Hype Magazine“!

For new listeners, what song of yours would you pick as an introduction to you?

“Rain ft. Kahpri” would be the song because it talks about the struggle, and my come up. How I have to keep my dreams alive while trying to overcome so many obstacles. It’s my motivation song!

Last but not least, HYPE wants to know…What’s your CRAZIEST “Where they do that at?!” moment…

How I got arrested on the actual Carnival Cruise at the age of 15 for getting into a fight with this 21 year old over a girl my brother “Tj” was talking to.  It was crazy after I won the fight,  my mom, who was on TEN, ran down to the holding cell on the boat and spilled ice cream over all over her shirt trying to figure out what was happening . “Where they do that at” !
