Adelaide synth-maestro Luke Million has had a massive 2015, touring throughout Australia, the UK and Europe, collaborating with an array of artists and seeing his single ‘Fear The Night’ featuring Jesse Davidson getting love across the board from Triple J. Luke now returns with his brand new single ‘Archetype’, enlisting Jeswon from Aussie hip hop crew Thundamentals on vocal duties. ‘Archetype’ is lifted from Luke’s upcoming EP to be released in March 2016.

Luke explains how the collaboration came about: “I found myself at Studios 301 in a writing session with legends Jeswon, Trials and Chance Waters. We were vibing out working on some tracks together, we gelled really well and before we knew it we were channelling funk, hip hop and electronic music into this next level party jam.  After a few months sitting on it I knew it had to see the light of day. I re-tracked the instrumental on nearly every bit of vintage gear I have in my studio and hit Jeswon of Thundamentals up to write and lay the final vocals down and he sure brought the goods.”

For Jeswon it was a chance to work outside his usual genre of music. He says, “Although this song is quite different to any of my previous work, I am proud of ‘Archetype’ and the collaboration with Luke has given me an insight into a genre that I never imagined myself engaging with. As a result of Luke’s unwavering enthusiasm, and despite my hesitation, he convinced me that I was the right person to lay down the final vocals.”

Luke’s affinity with vintage synthesisers is by now clearly apparent. His recording discography is a clear homage to the eras of his favourite synths and drum machines, which line the walls of his sunlit studio in Adelaide. With such an articulate knowledge of all the synth-powered disco and funk movements dominating the dancefloors of the seventies, eighties and nineties, you may consider Luke Million’s passion as being one in a million.

From Italo disco to electronic funk, Luke always has the party at front of mind. Blazing the stage with a mix of Moog, Oberheim, Roland and Korg, as well as ‘80s keytar, he plays as much attention to his synths as he does the crowd. And with this dedication, Luke Million has carved an impressive niche for himself, which is alluring artists from different genres to do something which is outside of their comfort zone.

Luke Million has a string of seminal releases including the Hottest 100 charting ‘Arnold’ (2.5 million YouTube views and counting), ‘Midnight/Galaxy’ and 2014’s ‘Light and Sound’ EP. His trademark sound has been in demand with Luke crafting a string of remixes for artists including Tkay Maidza, Porsches, Young Franco, Moullinex, Ou Est Le Swimming Pool and even his own band The Swiss.

‘Archetype’ will be released on November 20th via etcetc.
