Joey Supratta is an Italian-American Hip/Hop Artist who resides in Los Angeles, CA. Since his first major show at The Key Club in Hollywood CA, (2012), Supratta has shared the stage with Hip/Hop legends such as Method Man & Redman, Murs, S.A.S, WC & many more. His main team (Supratta Records) was created early 2013.

Aside from himself, SR is home to artists: Ttereve, Hollow Brooks, Eterna, Million, Izzo, & C. Roll. Supratta and his team have been featured on many Coast2Coast Official mixtape projects, as well as had a few interviews with 93.5 KDAY, (Los Angeles), HME RADIO, (Las Vegas) and Underground-Talk Radio, (North Carolina).

“Supratta is more than just a name or brand; It’s a family”

As you see your self, who is Joey Supratta?

Joey Supratta, as many would say, is great to work with. His professionalism & knowledge of song-writing and music business, give him a certain vibe/energy that not many independent artists have. To define who Joey Supratta is as an artist you’ll have to recite lyrics from his track Gimmix.

“I’d rather be broke while I’m earning respect than spit fake a** lyrics for my name on a check”

Even with his raw and “in your face” music, Supratta is still one the most humble people you will ever meet.

Tell us about your current project?

Currently I am working on a collab EP with (Supratta Records) Hip/Hop Artist Ttereve. This project is scheduled to be released November 21, 2015.

My latest single, “No Ghosts” feat. Ras Kass (Produced by Versace Dre) was just released November 3rd, 2015. You can find the single on YouTube. Prior to that on October 30th, 2015, my company released a full length Premium Mixtape on Coast2Coast Mixtapes entitled “The Family”. This tape was Hosted by Dj Khasper Bhinks.

What’s happened in your career that makes you feel this is the industry for you?

When looking back at my career, I’ve noticed a pattern when performing shows. Fans love an artist who can entertain the crowd while involving them at the same time. Being on stage is something I’ve always loved to do. I love being the center of attention and seeing hundreds to even thousands of fans vibing to my music. To be a successful musician, it takes more than just presenting your fans with recorded music. I feel I have a certain stage presence that you’d find in the greats.

What makes you the next great happening?

To answer that question as simply as possible, my music. Many independent artists lack the ability to be different. Nowadays it’s common to hear the same style performed over and over so when an A&R or even new fans hear my music, it’s a nice change from the mainstream generic sound. Like I always say, there are too many “rappers” and not enough “Hip/Hop Artists”.

Are your currently signed to a label or have any situation in the making?

Currently I am running an independent Team/Label called Supratta Records.

Who and what are your influences?

I grew up mostly listening to artists of the 90’s era. My main influences musically would have to be Nas, J. Cole, of course West Coast Legends such as NWA and Pac. And recently I’ve been really vibing to Joey BADASS. I admire the way he creates his music. There are a lot more artists that I respect and listen to, but the ones listed above have influenced me the most.

What should people expect from your upcoming 2016 projects?

In 2016 people can expect a lot of visuals from my camp. Right now I’m in the process of recording new music and have plans to put videos to a few of my tracks. As far as the music goes, everyone should expect nothing less than great music. I constantly push myself to become a better writer and with each year I see it substantially.

Is there anything you would like our readers to know?

If there was one thing I would like the readers to know about independent artists such as myself, it would be to really listen to their lyrics and what the song is about. Artists who are lyrically talented deserve more credit than they are given nowadays.

Last but not least, HYPE wants to know…What’s your CRAZIEST “Where they do that at?!” moment..

I would say the craziest moment would be August 31, 2013 when Ttereve and I performed at The Roxy Theater in Hollywood. This was a competition called “Battle Of The Bells” and the artist with the best set would receive a slot to perform at Rock The Bells. The show was sold out and we knew we killed our set. Unfortunately the competition was “favored” and a winner was already pre determined before the show even started. During the announcement of who won, one of the hosts asked the crowd, “Who do you want to win?”. Within a few seconds the entire venue started screaming “Joey! Joey! Joey!” over and over and nothing was chanted for the selected “winner”. I can still hear the chants to this day. At that moment I realized hearing those chants was a win in itself. Respect is all I’m after. As long as the crowd is happy, then as an artist, I did my job.
