Riverboat Gamblers Texas Tour With Murder City Devils, Gamblers in “Everybody Wants Some” Trailer

The Riverboat Gamblers recently released a single on End Sounds, as part of an ongoing series. Now the band has announced they will do an all-ages tour of Texas with Murder City Devils! Also of note, The Riverboat Gamblers played a punk band for the filming of the new Richard Linklater film, Everybody Wants Some, and you can catch the band briefly in the trailer (go to the 1:35 mark)….

The Gamblers recent single has “Time To Let Her Go” on the a-side, with a cover of The Soft Boys’ “I Wanna Destroy You” written by Robyn Hitchcock on the flip side. Fans of the Something To Crow About LP from the Gamblers will be stoked to know the single was produced by Grammy Award Winner Stuart Sikes (White Stripes, Rocket From The Crypt, Reigning Sound, Modest Mouse, Jets To Brazil, Loretta Lynn), and mastered by Jason Allen (Rise Against, Alkaline Trio, Bouncing Souls, Hot Water Music, Propagandhi).

There was a point in time before everything fit into neat subgenres, a period when rock music and the nascent punk scene were still discovering their sound and anything seemed possible. Looking back it’s hard to pinpoint the exact moment when these two genres converged but if you had to sum it up sonically it would probably sound a lot like the Riverboat Gamblers.
