Ryan answered a few questions for us about his emerging music career:

From the outside looking in, who is Ryan Christian?

Ryan Christian from the outside looking in is a humble, kind spirit human being. Getting to know me and my mindset, you’ll be able to tell that I am one creative, artistic figure who continues to try to break down music barriers that people have set up in their minds. I do what the people say I’m not allowed to do. Risk taker.

What brought you to the entertainment industry, music specifically?

As a child, my father showing Michael Jackson performing live for the first time. I was captivated by the performance and seeing how he put it all together. I just knew that I couldn’t see myself doing anything other music and being a great songwriter in the music industry. I just want to entertain the world.

Tell us about your current project and your ApolloNightLA “Artist of the Week” winning single “Lay You Down”.

I’m currently working on my 2nd EP release entitled “Nostalgia14: The Musical Dream”. The project concept dates back to the summer of 2014 where I had the best time of my life so far. The nostalgia feel comes from my childhood growing up in “The Hills” in Fayetteville, North Carolina. My Artist of the Week single “Lay You Down” came about with my best friend and I. We wrote the song in August of 2015. Writing the song I felt that it would be a winning single. Now it’s time for the people to hear and be the judge of that.

For new listeners, what song of yours would you pick as an introduction to you?

My song “Invitation,” it will allow new listeners to know that I am versatile. I don’t stick to any one genre. I can change it up at the drop of a dime. Unexpected I would say. I love to keep the people guessing “What is Ryan Christian going to do next?” Whether it’s straight R&B, Hip Hop, neo soul, or even pop. I just love evolving.

Last but not least, HYPE wants to know…What’s your CRAZIEST “Where they do that at?!” moment…

Oh man, living in Fayetteville you will have a lot of those moments, but one specific moment. My brothers and I were playing a game of basketball at the park. Long story short, some kid stole my phone and my brothers went looking for the guy, they find the guy who took and let him get away on a skateboard of all things. Where they do that at?
