According to a report by Entertainment Weekly,Kendrick Lamar will head to Brooklyn in April to welcome legendary hip-hop group N.W.A. to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the hall announced Monday. While speaking to a group of Compton High School students ahead of the Grammys, the “Alright” rapper namedDr. Dre among his musical influences.

It seems TOTALLY appropriate to me that Kendrick be the young lion to do the N.W.A. honors! Among his other accomplishments this year, Kendrick gained Funk Master George Clinton his very first GRAMMY award after 40-plus years in the game. Clinton appears on Lamar’s GRAMMY winning “To Pimp A Butterfly” album.

Also a part of the ceremony says Entertainment Weekly, “Steve Miller, Deep Purple, Chicago, and Cheap Trick will join N.W.A. in the 2016 induction class, with Kid Rock on hand to introduce Cheap Trick. He and Lamar have joined other presenters The Black Keys, Lars Ulrich, and Rob Thomas.”

The 31st Annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony takes place at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center April 8, with HBO filming the event for an April 30 broadcast. Tickets for the live simulcast at the Rock Hall are now available.
