About “I Am”
Following recent performances for big crowds in Paris and Cape Town, the renowned Nigerian artist REZthaPoet has released a new Stormatique-produced spoken-word record on identity and the celebration of heritage — in three languages: English, Yoruba, and Pidgin. “I Am” is the lead single off the EXPOSIT Deluxe Edition album dropping in the next few weeks, a follow-up to REZ’s late-2015 EP of the same name.
REZthaPoet (also known as Adebola Afolabi) is spoken-word artist, poet and photographer acclaimed throughout Nigeria and now spreading his influence worldwide. A Participating Poet/Writer at the Central Library Poetry Project in South Africa, REZ has performed at many notable weekly and monthly poetry events throughout the last eight years, gracing the stages of Freedomhall, Taruwa, Defunct GAP, ANA, Wordup, The Konscious Poetry Lounge, Bespoke Poetry, The Poetry Potter, The Anthill 2.0, Wordslam (Goethe Institute), W.A.P.I (British Council), Chill and Relax, Soul Nyt 2.0, and numerous private happenings. Most recently, he has performed regularly at the Grounding Sessions in South Africa and appeared as a special guest at the Spokenword Paris event in France.
