Who is ANLA ‘Artist of the Week’ Blaque Dahlia?

Blaque Dahlia (@blaquedahlia82), nee Chante’ Percha, inspired as a child by Queen Latifah and Mc Lyte, wrote her first song at the age of 12. She began entering talent shows in Jr. high school and went on to become the only girl in her entire school to be a drum major.

Connecting with her team YDCHMB and Dez productions, Blaque began working in her gift as a songwriter and soon after took her career to the next level by signing with Elite Global Management LLC in July of 2015.

We got Blaque Dahlia to answer a few questions so we could get to know more about this ApolloNightLA “Artist of the Week” winner.

Who is the artist Blaque Dahlia?

I am the epiphany of creativity. Blaque Dahlia represents my anatomy, that of a black queen who is steady blossoming on a daily basis, growing into the essence of what a strong black woman and a flower both have, delicate strength balanced with beauty.

What or who influenced the sound you bring today?

Great production, life stories, and events are what influences my music. Where I come from and the struggles, I continue to survive mold the sound you hear today.

What’s happened in your career that makes you feel this is the industry for you?

My life, period. Basically, go for what you know, cause everybody has the art of storytelling, you just have to find yours, and mines so happen to be music.

What do you want people to get from your music?

Life, period!!! I want to tell people my mini stories, for them to feel the road I’ve traveled.

Tell us about your current project and your ApolloNightLA Artist of the Week joint, “Just What I Like.”

Well, I’m currently working on my mixtape called “Beauty and the Beast.” Everybody can relate to this mixtape from young to old, from hip-hop to pop. There is a lot of diversity in this project. My single “Just What I Like”; is more of a ladies anthem expressing how women feel when they are out with their friends, living real life. Another single of mine “Orions Belt” is a track everyone can relate to as everyone has their star. Both of these tracks, along with dedicated promo on behalf of myself and my team Elite Global Management LLC won me the artist of the week on ApolloNightsLA. The vibe was mad crazy! I truly appreciate everything they do for indie artists.

Editor’s Pick from Blaque Dahlia’s most recent drops:

This joint gets a 4/5 from me, on content, production value and delivery. Her sound is big!!! ~ JD

If you could collaborate with one artist, living or dead, who would it be and why?

I would have to say, Kelis, lol… The reason why; she’s artistic, different, and her vocals are amazing. It’s mad weird but, “look at me!!” I love anything that’s an amazingly funny lol.

Last but not least, HYPE wants to know…What’s your CRAZIEST “Where they do that at?!” moment…

When I was performing my song called “Go Harder,” in South Carolina, and this guy just ran up on stage and blew mad money from the top of balcony while hugging on me reciting my words!! It was more of a “Where they do that at?” on a feel good tip, you feel me? Energy was crazy!!
