Rhyme Report: The Resurrection of Rah The Broker

rah

Originally from Strong Island, Rah The Broker grew up reciting lines from his favorite artists as early as the age of 5. Included were a virtual whose who of the lyricist hall of fame (Jay, Z, Nas, Tupac, Tupac, Biggie, and Keith Murray) to name a few.  Taught the definition of great music from the outset, Rah The Broker gravitated towards records with huge impact and meaning.  Moving to Harlem at the beginning of his Middle School years, Rah The Broker was introduced to songwriting by his cousin Sai whom himself was an aspiring artist and challenged Rah to pen his first rhyme.  Liking the exercise, he continued to practice endlessly and soon formed a group with fellow creators called Blok Fam Ent. At the time he was known as Felon Behind Bars, given to him for his ability to murder tracks.  Along side his cohorts he would get his feet wet performing at open mics, and showcases citywide touching stages at Lehman College, The Sugar Shack, Amarachi Lounge, Lafayette Grill, Platinum Grill, Remote Lounge, Shrine, Don Hills as well as SOBs.  At the age of 16 Rah The Broker received a resounding endorsement from Hip Hop Pioneer Africa Bambaataa as he placed 1st at an event sponsored by the legend. His subsequent work was the release of his catalog including projects titled Strictly For The G’s, Real N***** Vol. 1, Felon Is the Name That They Gave Me, The Weather Report and What You Talkin’ Bout Willis Vol. I.

With the turn of the decade, Rah’s life would spiral as he was sentenced to 6 1/2 years in state prison. Taking the initiative to change his life and his moniker,  he lay to rest “Felon Behind Bars” and embraced his new stage name Rah The Broker.  His desire to head his own label, Street Scholars became a focus and he incorporated the promotion of his childhood friends Laybak and Dymes who were performing under The Kamitti. Scholar Kamitti was born and with that new life. Rah The Broker was released top of 2016 and has not looked back.  Hitting the ground running he has ripped stages @ The Walnut Loft, The Jazzy Underground, The West End Lounge, The Blue Room Lounge and most recently won The Major Labels Showcase @ The Black Thorn In Queens which afforded him radio placement with Hot 97 / Love $ Hip Hop star DJ DrewskiRah The Broker has made appearances at NYC nightspots such as Heavens, and La Oficina promoting his project release and building resources to strengthen his network.  As a special guest on Lord Sear’s Sirius XM broadcast Rah put on with magnificent bars.
