The Hype Magazine Live Session With DefJam’s new R&B/Pop crew Riplay

Near the end of 2017 DefJam Records welcomed their newest R&B Pop girl group Riplay under the direction of Phantom Boyz Music Group. Riplay is an R&B Pop girl group from Baltimore, Maryland consists of three young ladies, Marshaye Hebron aka “Shaye”, her younger sister A’laiza Hebron aka “Lay”, and Kiya Hawthorne aka “Ki” who are between the ages of 15 to 17. They definitely have next up as each one of the young ladies bring a unique element to the group that sets them apart from the typical girl group.
Riplay’s fall release Status sent the group into a whirlwind of popularity nationwide but they’ve got a great starting body of work to rock with to kick off 2018.
About Riplay
Shaye originally from PG Maryland brings a style of hip hop to the group that reflects one of her idols Lisa “Left Eye” Lopez.
Lay brings a soft soothing sound that sets the tone for the group and with her funky image she makes a bold statement.
Ki originally from Baltimore Maryland is known by the group, to bring the soul and the power behind the sound.
With their natural talent in being performers, Riplay looks to entertain the music world with great music and energy. Working hard to follow and recreate the blueprint of some of the girl groups before them,as they mirror the likes of TLC, SWV and other great female R&B Pop groups before them.
The Hype Magazine met with these young lionesses via telephone to talk about their new situation and what’s on the books for 2018.

These ladies know that to whom much is given, much is required and thus, it’s their “Time To Shine.”
