Yung Pinch – 1997

The Song:
With a innate sense of hooky melodies and hip-length hair, Yung Pinch is cutting an imposing figure on the SoCal rap scene. Delivering another effortlessly infectious jam, Yung Pinch reveals his mission statement on “1997,” his latest single. Released as part of Pinch’s #4EVERFRIDAY series, “1997” is a bite-sized slice of bubblegum rap brilliance, with Yung Pinch rocking an addictive cadence over a beat from Charlie Handsome (Post Malone, Travis Scott): “1997 til my dyin’ day/Imma get this money, Imma ride my wave/Blunt town beach boy, who ya tryna play?/I can’t lose, gotta be successful, Imma find a way. “1997” is an excellent distillation of what makes Pinch special: sugary melodies and clever rhymes over breezy, beach-ready instrumentals. Earlier in 2018, Pinch shared the honeyed “Smoke & Drive,” which samples Weezer’s “Island In The Sun” and features appearances from fellow Cali hitmakers blackbear and P-Lo, and cashed “Big Checks,” a celebratory jam with a guest spot from YG, and “Juicy Fruit,” which is currently listed on Spotify’s Most Necessary playlist.

Representing “Bluntington Beach,” California, Yung Pinch blends R&B hooks with melodic rap flows into a fresh new strain of danceable hip-hop. The 20-year-old OC artist has been making steady waves, having opened for Post Malone, Young Thug, Ty Dolla $ign, Nate Dogg, Lil Uzi Vert, Playboi Carti, and more. Accumulating millions of streams since the drop of his 2017 #FREEYUNGPINCH EP, including over 8 million Spotify plays on Clout Culture playlist mainstay “When I Was Yung,” Yung Pinch is building an unstoppable momentum as he hurdles towards his next project, sure to be his biggest yet. Catch Yung Pinch on his headlining All 4 The Love Tour, which commences in Austin on February 15th. Following the All 4 The Love Tour, Pinch will travel to Europe to open for G-Eazy during his European tour in May.
