3 Healthy-Ish, Fruit-Based Snacks For Your Consideration

With failed New Year’s resolutions a few months behind us yet beach season just around the corner, many of us are looking towards getting back into shape. For some that means stepping up their exercise game. For others — this writer included — this entails making better choices when dining. Not everyone following a diet is going to be counting calories, which gives the need to look for snacks that meet a variety of nutritional needs. So below are three new, taste-tested products for Hype readers seeking snacks that are enjoyable and not going to get you too off-track.

1) Welch’s Fruit Snacks Easter Packs

Odds are that you have had Welch’s Fruit Snacks, yes, but not the new limited-edition Easter Fruit Snacks. Same mixed fruit formula, just new packaging and the promise of being “a great Egg Stuffer.” Said to be made with fruit as the first ingredient, Welch’s Fruit Snacks Easter Packs are 45 calories, fat-free, gluten-free, preservative-free, and give you 100% of your USDA recommended allotment of Vitamin C; there’s also some Vitamin A and Vitamin E in there for you. The same brand is also offering Welch’s Fruit Rolls, which are also gluten-free and preservative-free.

2) Go Organically Fruit Snacks

Going a step further than recommendation #1, Go Organically are not only full of Vitamins A, C and E, made with real fruit, gluten-free, and preservative-free, but also organic and GMO-free. The Go Organically brand currently has three flavor offerings: Fruit Medley, Mixed Berry, and Tropical; the Tropical blend includes Tangerine, Strawberry-Kiwi, Mango, Pink Grapefruit and Pineapple, which are not flavors I have heard of before for fruit snacks. Each pack is reportedly only 70 calories.

3) Munk Pack Oatmeal Fruit Squeezes

Munk Pack’s ready-to-eat Oatmeal Fruit Squeezes are packed with both whole grains and fruit bites. Suitable for both a quick breakfast or a snack on the go, Munk Pack is currently available in five flavors, including Apple Quinoa Cinnamon and Maple Pear Quinoa. All of the flavors are gluten-free, non-GMO, vegan, and high in fiber. The same brand also has vegan-friendly and gluten-free Protein Cookies, which carry 18 grams of plant-protein per cookie, as available in Double Dark Chocolate and Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip.

So whatever your snack of choice may be, always remember that it is possible to make healthy choices this season while still enjoying yourself.
