0From Hamilton to Power to Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks, Brandon Victor Dixon is truly a renaissance man
Brandon Victor Dixon wowed the NYC crowd last night when he performed at NBC’s annual Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular.
Two years ago, Dixon, a Tony Award nominee’s was applauded when he and the cast of Hamilton used the opportunity of then Vice President-elect Mike Pence attending their show to make a statement emphasizing the need for then President-elect Donald J. Trump, a Republican, to work on behalf of all Americans. “We hope you will hear us out,” Brandon Victor Dixon told Pence.
“We, sir — we — are the diverse America who are alarmed and anxious that your new administration will not protect us, our planet, our children, our parents, or defend us and uphold our inalienable rights,” he said. “We truly hope that this show has inspired you to uphold our American values and to work on behalf of all of us.”
In addition to Hamilton, Dixon’s Broadway credits include Shuffle Along, Motown the Musical, and The Color Purple. “It was a real amazing experience because it’s a beautiful show,” Brandon Victor Dixon told Scoop B Radio’s Brandon ‘Scoop B’ Robinson.
“Oprah presented the show, so getting to work with her and going to Chicago and be on her show, it was a real amazing experience. And the “Color Purple” is a legacy you know, it’s a cultural legacy it’s dope to be apart of that and it’s dope to see it continue to have life and go on and on you know.”
Dixon is pretty busy these days. The Broadway veteran also recently starred as Judas Iscariot in NBC’s presentation of Jesus Christ Superstar. He also plays attorney Terry Silver on “Power.”
