NBDY – Admissions

After signing with the newly relaunched Arista Records, R&B singer-songwriter NBDY explodes into the new year with a smoldering new song, “Admissions,” with accompanying music video to come soon.

“The song came from a place in my past that crippled me for so long. It was my first heartbreak. I wanted to take the listener back to that moment explicitly giving them the full experience,” explains NBDY. The record is serene yet reverent with lyrics grown, slurry and identifiable by everyone living in a moment of time in their feelings.

The storied and iconic Arista Records is set to make a major statement with this talented young singer. After all, Arista is most known historically as having launched some of the world’s most celebrated and iconic artists, including Aretha Franklin, Usher and Whitney Houston. Like Houston, NBDY is a Newark, New Jersey native who comes from a long lineage of talented musicians and vocalists. Beautifully, NBDY is actually following in his father’s footsteps. 20 years ago, Sony also inked a recording deal with his father.

NBDY presents a uniquely multi-faceted R&B style using sensory elements in both his lyrical choosings and melodies, weaving together his sonic influences and inspiration from his musical family. NBDY’s Great Grandfather was an underground jazz musician, who also taught his Grandfather the craft and would host the likes of legend Sarah Vaughan at his home for jazz lessons. NBDY’s father signed with Sony after befriending Wyclef Jean. Rounding out his musical household is NBDY’s mother who is a talented singer in her own right, as well as his Great Aunt, jazz singer Honi Gordon who worked with the legendary Duke Ellington.

20 years after his father signed with Sony, NBDY is excited to continue his family’s musical legacy by joining the Arista family. “Clive Davis’ dynasty at Arista gave us the most iconic artists of our time, so it’s hard to process that I’ve been blessed to continue the dynasty with David Massey and the new Arista team. Given where I come from, I’m glad to get to be the one to finally break the ‘generational curse’ in my family,” says NBDY.

“My dad, mom, aunts, cousins have all tried to pursue music, but because of their environments, were held back from achieving true greatness. During my official signing, my dad looked at me and said, ‘It’s like watching me all over again, you’re just doing it better.”

NBDY has released four singles, including stand out tracks “Used To” and “Warning.” While NBDY is undoubtedly inspired by generations before him, he offers a new sound distinctly his own.
