Dell and Seth Curry Unveil New Outdoor Courts Where Stephen and Seth First Learned the Game

The idea of home court holds a lot of sway in basketball – from high school to the pro’s, a game in your house, with your crowd, is an undeniable advantage. But before there is competition, home court can mean a lot of other things – where you hone your skills, in a driveway, at a recreation center, in the courts in your public park and beyond. Home court is a place where any player can strive to get better and be the best version of themselves.

For the Curry family, the Naomi Drenan Recreational Center was home court growing up. Seth and Stephen spent hundreds of hours on these courts, growing into the athletic superstars they would become. Days and nights were spent here, a space to focus on basketball and friends in a way few places could offer. So with the opportunity to return home to Charlotte for 2019 NBA All-Star Weekend, the Curry’s made it a mission to bring back their home court and make it something for countless others in the Charlotte community to enjoy as well.

In partnership with the NBA, Under Armour, RISE, Nancy Lieberman Charities and Chief Putney, Seth and Dell Curry unveiled two new outdoor courts at the Naomi Drenan Recreation Center, inspired by the infamous Curry ‘30.’ A local artist took worn down slabs of concrete, and using the Curry number 30 and the splash that Seth and Stephen’s games represent, transformed the space into something new and accessible for the entire community.
