Royce da 5’9 -Field Negro

Royce 5’9 has never been one to hold his tongue and on his new track “Field Negro,” out today via Entertainment One/Heaven Studios, Inc., he takes aim at everyone from his hip hop peers, athletes, award shows and anyone who dares not stand and speak up for fear of falling out of favor in their respective industries.

As we approach the biggest night in music this Sunday with the 2019 GRAMMY Awards, Royce delivers his honest and forthright opinion on how he feels about participating and receiving awards in general.

Royce explains, “As an artist in a larger community of influential entertainers and athletes, I believe that we owe it to our fans to speak up and be vocal about the things that are affecting our communities. We also owe it to all of the people that came before us who have sacrificed their families, careers and lives to do it in a way that promotes unity, not division, among us.”

Critics and fans have praised Royce 5’9” latest album, Book of Ryan:

“Royce da 5’9″ is on a lyrical killing spree.” — Vibe

“‘Book Of Ryan’ continues a four-year, six-album streak of top-tier lyricism, with noted personal and artistic growth in the process. His 2018 output will not only earn him noted respect as one of the best lyricists of the year but in rap as a whole.” — Hip Hop DX

“Even 20 years into his career, Royce maintains his reputation as one of hip-hop’s premier rappers by releasing his most affecting work yet.”
–XXL

“This is a memoir, seemingly written as a look back on the journey in a way that is highly-engaging for all. If there is a collection of songs to understand what makes Royce 5’9 great at rapping and making art, ‘Book Of Ryan’ belongs on the shelf.” — Ambrosia For Heads
