The Bicycle is Making a Comeback!

With major cities like Los Angeles boasting higher population totals than the majority of states today, congestion and pollution can make driving start to feel less like a chore and more like a nightmare.

As a result of this trend, new models of easily-operated, collapsible all-terrain bikes are on the rise. One notable example is Mate.bike, which launched this weekend at Maxfield in West Hollywood. In collaboration with BET Weekend, a fresh line of Mate.bikes was on-hand for entertainers and guests to experience for themselves, with many ultimately purchased before the day’s end.

Keeping Up with the Kardashians star Corey Gamble nabbed four in varying colors as gifts for Kris and the girls, and rapper Lil Baby ultimately decided on taking ten of them home: one for every member of his crew. Artist PeeWee Longway came away from the event as the proud new owner of a Mate.bike as well.

Founded in 2016 as a Copenhagen-based startup by siblings Christian Adel Michael and Julie Kronstrom Carton, Mate.bike’s focus is to encourage individuals residing in urban areas to abandon their cars in favor of a sleek-looking e-bike that handles rough terrain with ease and folds up for easy storage in much the same fashion as a wheelchair. By creating a transportation method that is easy to operate and store, convenient, good for the environment, and

promoting good health for the user, Mate.bike has introduced a legitimate transportation alternative to residents of crowded urban areas, as well as cycling enthusiasts and anyone who just enjoys “getting lost on purpose” on an off-road adventure somewhere.
