Big Havi Drops Visuals for “Narcotix” (Dir. by Qasquiat)
The Rapper Behind Urban Radio Hit “9 Times Out Of 10” Shares an Emotional Video for a “Personal Problems” Highlight
Big Havi‘s music might sound effortlessly catchy, but the ATL artist uses earworm-y trap jams to delve into heavy situations. An inspirational anthem that touches on addiction, poverty, and P.T.S.D., Havi’s “Narcotix” is an ideal example of his honey-voiced street gospel. Directed by Qasquiat (Lil Uzi Vert, Roddy Ricch, Smoove L), the “Narcotix” video is an intimate and eye-catching video that perfectly suits the song’s subject matter. The bulk of the video is shot in close-up, alternating focus on Havi’s expressive face and another figure, fraught with doubt and struggling with addiction. Filmed with neon-lit special effects, the video draws parallels between the addict’s attempts to break free of drugs and Havi’s need to escape his neighborhood. “Narcotix” is a highlight track from Personal Problems, Havi’s recently released debut project.
Home to the heatseeking single “9 Times Out Of 10,“ which features a verse from Lil Baby, combines Havi’s tuneful style with emotional lyricism, as the young rapper opens up about his past struggles and his desire to reach G.O.A.T. status in the rap game. The project boasts highlights like the immersive trap ballad “Love Gone,” the bouncy, country-fried “808s,” and mission statement opening track “Grimey As Eva.” Featuring an additional appearance from Derez De’Shon, Personal Problems releases via Commission Records
With over 10 million streams across platforms, including over 7 million views on its YouTube video since December 17th, “9 Times Out Of 10” is quickly transitioning from a local smash into a national concern. After being one of the top 5 most added songs at Urban Radio, the song currently sits at #34 with a bullet on the nationwide urban radio airplay chart. In January, BET featured Big Havi on “#FreshFaceFriday,” putting the “9 Times Out Of 10” video into regular rotation.
