Entrepreneur and business consultant Ayanna Williams-Jones (AKA The Detroit Madam) launched her new podcast Love, Sex, Business with The Boss Ladies of Detroit last week. The podcast features weekly interviews with Ayanna and her co-host Nya Marshall and their guests as they explore both the opportunities and challenges that women face in the business world. Ayanna already has a handful of great episodes ready for release featuring some of the top female entrepreneurs in the Detroit area including Rasheda Kamari Williams (Author/Life Coach), Saundra Little (Architect/Activist), Deborah Williams (Medical Professional), Pashon Murray (Environmentalist/Entrepreneur) and many more!

The first episode of the podcast features Detroit Dirt/Detroit Dirt Foundation founder Pashon Murray as she discusses the work her company/ foundation has done for the Detroit community, specifically discussing the different hurdles she has had to overcome as a women starting a company and then a foundation to help the community. In addition Ayanna and Nya talked with Pashon about her recent work on the new Netflix documentary Kiss The Ground narrated by Woody Harrelson. The documentary tells the story of the importance of regenerating the world soils and how it can not only help our climate issues, but also restore lost ecosystems and create abundant food supplies. Something that Pashon has be a part of since even before she launched the charitable side of her composting company Detroit Dirt; The Detroit Dirt Foundation where since 2018 she has worked on environmental projects through education, services and public programs to improve waste resource management in Detroit.

Born in Brooklyn, Ayanna spent her younger years bouncing between New York City and Detroit, spending split time with her mother and father before settling in Detroit full time. Ayanna recalls, “My dad’s a hustler,” and he instilled that same worth ethic in Ayanna at a young age by bringing her in on his work, like purchasing clothes from the Fashion District and walking around Harlem and Queens, selling those items for a profit. This is where Ayanna learned at a young age that the only way to make your dreams come true was to chase them and she has done just that. By the time she was 18, her own hustler’s spirit kicked in and Ayanna launched her own business. “I started dancing, and then from dancing I started an entertainment service.” From there, Ayanna used her capital to pursue other ventures. She grew interested in real estate—working as a loan officer and later in processing. “Then the recession hit,” she remembers, and she moved back into corporate America as a Fleet Manager for General Motors, managing multi-million-dollar accounts.

Currently, Ayanna Williams-Jones has her hands in multiple businesses. Her consulting firm, Boss Ladies of Detroit, advises other entrepreneurs on how to make it in business with the goal of elevating them to a “Boss Lady” status. In addition, to the launch of her new podcast Love, Sex, Business, Ayanna is currently getting ready to release a book The Detroit Madam, where she details the highs and lows of working in the entertainment industry for nearly a decade.

Ayanna also recently started a new venture, Twin Resorts, an Airbnb that will combine with her already successful day spa, Pedicure & Shoes 2 Go in downtown Detroit to provide an all-encompassing luxurious experience.
