Listen: ShaqO Drops Hot New Mixtape ‘In A Real Way’

ShaqO is someone who has mastered the art of being able to consistently deliver hit after hit. He’s an independent artist from the I.E. who has a sound that is different and sets himself apart from the rest. His latest release In A Real Way does just that and is a 13-track project that reveals what the rising artist is truly capable of. The project maintains an upbeat vibe and high energy delivery from Shaqo.

In a recent interview, ShaqO described how his upbringing has played a role in who he is today.

“Growing up my uncle and grandparents played everything,” he said. “My uncle had all rap/hip hop and R&B music. My grandparents played all oldies and I had to listen to all of them. I took a liking to a lot of west coast music and oldies.”

ShaqO’s sound could be described as “very West Coast and ratchet,” but with a dash of smoothness. He also has a musical background playing the clarinet in middle school. He also says that he used to write down some of his favorite lyrics from artists in a notebook.

My sound is very unique because I like to add my own twist on my ad libs and the way I say my words. I cannot really compare myself to any artist because I am me, but nonetheless it is unique in its own way.

When asked what makes him unique as an artist, ShaqO said that it’s his adlibs that make him ultimately stand out.

“My sound is very unique because I like to add my own twist on my ad libs and the way I say my words,” ShaqO explained. “I cannot really compare myself to any artist because I am me, but nonetheless it is unique in its own way.”

In A Real Way is one of ShaqO’s most impressive efforts to date. He’s someone who has a lot to offer in terms of development and growth as an artist, but one thing’s for certain: his songs will make you want to turn up.

As far as what’s next for ShaqO, he plans on releasing a few visuals for In A Real Way, and wants his audience to stay tuned!

“I hope fans take away the message that it is okay to be you,” he said. “Embrace it and have fun with it because there is only one you and you are responsible for your own happiness.”
