Memphis Hip Hop Artist Marco Pavé Releases “Dirty Benz”

September 1, Southern Hip-Hop artist Marco Pavé dropped his single, “Dirty Benz” with music video. “Dirty Benz” is the opening track for Pavé’s upcoming Crossroads EP out October 30.

As an educator and arts advocate, Pavé creates music that stimulates local activism and entrepreneurship. “‘Dirty Benz’ is a metaphor of the rat race,” says Pavé. “A metaphor for trying to prove someone wrong or trying to prove society wrong. Without your why identified it’s hard to get to how. The Benz is Dirty until you know your purpose.”

During his time at Georgetown University, Marco Pavé recorded Crossroads EP and became the first Hip-Hop artist in residence. The EP charts his struggles in the last decade, which includes hardships and financial struggles amongst anxiety, depression, and desperation—and the resolve to continue, despite the emotional toll.

“Dirty Benz” is a testimonial to unwavering work ethic that operates on multiple levels. What you get in life is determined by what you put in.

“Stuck in the dirt/when does it end? Put in work/Hop in a benz. Hop in a benz/Put in work. When does it end?/stuck in the dirt.”
