Nelly Live in Dallas, TX

As we all know, the year 2020 has been filled with unexpected transitions and plans put on hold due to the pandemic. Naturally, live events such as concerts and performances have been put on hold for most of the year; so I was thrilled to realize that The Lava Cantina was hosting Nelly in one of the very few shows happening in the metroplex.

I eagerly grabbed my camera to capture the excitement. It was my first time venturing out of the house for something like this since March, and I was filled with anticipation.

The outdoor venue had strategically placed guests at tables socially distanced from one another so that they could safely enjoy the show. The whole place buzzed with joy before being blessed with the appearance of one of the best music artists of our time.

Nelly is, simply put, a fantastic performer! To say that I was blown away would be an understatement. No matter that the crowd was smaller than usual, no matter that we were distanced so that it was even possible for us to be there, he brought the exact same energy as if that venue was filled with thousands of people.

From his voice to his dance moves, his personality and his charm; the man was simply born to be a star. As he performed hit after hit, the crowd went wild with nostalgia, singing our favorite songs from the last 20 years.

His infectious joy and animated nature brought a smile to everyone’s face in the venue, and I’m sure to those viewing the live stream around the world; which is what I think we all needed in an uncertain time like this.

If you get a chance to check out a Nelly show sometime in your life, take advantage of it. If not, make sure to keep listening to your favorite jams. That kind of music just makes your soul want to dance.
