NYC’s R&B, Funk and Pop Sextet, Duwendé Releases Fun New Single, “Little Bit of This”

R&B, Funk and Pop sextet, Duwendé have just released their latest single, “Little Bit of This” off of their forthcoming LP due out in early 2021.

“Little Bit of This,” is a fun and playful jam setting the scene for an unexpected, but perfect night out. You remember those nights where all your friends are ready and available to meet up and the fun doesn’t stop? That’s what “Little Bit of This” celebrates – and we all could use a night like that after the way 2020 has gone.

The song features the silky smooth lead vocals of Derrick Leonard, who beckons with an invitation to forget about your woes, leave the workday behind. He sings, “I think you work too hard/not an end in sight/but tonight’s your night, yeah/so let’s indulge and unwrap the night/ the sun goes down/the 9 to 5 is gone/hey, go put that nice fit on/yeah, a little fun won’t hurt/just wait and see…”

“We wrote this song as a reminder to take some time for yourself,” says Duwendé. “It may be harder to do in these crazy times, but we’re here to urge to you to kick back, grab a drink and get your good vibes in!”

Duwendé premiered the video for their first single, the sultry, soulful R&B track, “Dangerous,” via earlier this month.

Shot on location in Brooklyn, the video for “Dangerous” finds the six singers bathed in purple and white ambient light and spotlights the co-lead vocals of J. Aaron Boykin and Derrick Leonárd who croon, “I can get a little dangerous…”as both a promise and a provocative warning.

Duwendé (Doo-WEN-day) is a six-person a cappella band best known for their fiercely original, bass-and-beatbox-driven funk/pop style of music. The sextet is comprised of co-lead singers J. Aaron Boykin, Derrick Hicks, Abbey Janes (soprano), Tomás Cruz (tenor), Edward Chung (vocal percussion) and David Lane (bass).

Duwendé’s music has made avid fans of tastemakers Jermaine Dupri and Perez Hilton and earned them multiple Contemporary A Cappella Recording Awards for Best Pop/Rock Album and Best Pop/Rock Original Song. They were featured performers on NBC’s “The Winner Is”, hosted by Nick Lachey, and were featured presenters for TED TALK x for Johnson & Johnson.

In 2011, Duwendé released Remember: The Music of Michael Jackson, gaining them widespread acclaim, and leading them to performances for the Java Jazz Festival in Jakarta, the United Nations, Save The Children Benefit dinner hosted by Hoda Kotb and Kathie Lee, the Bill Clinton Global Initiative, World AIDS Day Event in Amsterdam, and the Sundance Film Festival. With their successful YouTube channel (over 10 million views), the band has a growing fan base that circles the globe, and their music and arrangements have been used on TV shows internationally.
