Pipe Down – Aurpan Kar Starts 2021 With Some Fire

With every release from the 17 year old Canberran artist Aurpan Kar, his vision and creative image expands through his music. The music Aurpan makes reflects the environment around him and tells the story of a young visionary making his way through the world and sharing his experiences. His style is mainly recognizable through the heavily melodic approach he has to tracks and the similar flows he uses to create a theme between all his music. However, Aurpan displays a range of genres with his music. From the more trap influenced feel on “Smile More (ft. Kaeyel)”, to a more experimental RnB vibe on tracks like “Keep Me In Mind”. Aurpan wishes to indulge in as many forms of music as possible, learning the different disciplines associated and expanding his diversity in music. At the end of the day however, Aurpan wants to be able to inspire others using music as an art form and continue to have fun in the process.

“PIPE DOWN” is a hellish, head banging song that reflects themes of heavy party life and living fast. This is a song that gives that feeling of punching through a wall, or moshing until someone fractures something. The hard hitting aspects of the song is recognized by Aurpan himself in the line “This ain’t rap, this the shit you bump on caps”, likening the track more to head banging club music than rap music.
The song starts with a dark choir alongside a drum pattern that insinuates something sinister. The crazed synth heavy instrumental drops and is then immediately joined with chopped and cut adlibs which give the sense of radical quick paced confusion. The chorus Aurpan presents in this song  has this rolling and moving effect as it plays with the beat behind it, cutting out to make space for certain ear-perking sounds.
Aurpan uses this track to “get things off his chest” in a crazed aggressive manner. Wanting respect from peers, while simultaneously observing the obscurity of the life around him. He shares how he sees the world and how the people around him see him. However he also focuses on the auditory aesthetic of the track. The fast moving subjects talked about in the chorus paired with the adlibs places mental images of a houseparty or rager in the listeners head. Making the track clip in areas to give the idea of grittiness and grime, which compliments the aesthetic of the track. Finally the outro section of both the instrumental backing and Aurpan‘s vocals air doubled with a distorted guitar sound which represents the climax of a party. As the track progressed, so does the intensity.
