Tessa Kaye’s Confident Pop Single “Smile More”

Tessa Kaye is one of those artists that come along rarely. Her mix of soul, R&B, funk and pop is undeniably infectious. The songwriter further succeeds at crafting irresistible songs that deal with important and relatable subject matter. Her last single “You Know Who You Are And I Hate You” poignantly dealt with anxiety and how it can wreck havoc on someones life. With her latest unveiling the vibrant “Smile More”, Kaye discusses the double standard on how men and women have been allowed to express themselves in society. She shares, “Every woman I know has stories of times they’ve been told to smile… usually from men, and complete strangers at that. I’ve also experienced this countless times myself since I was a little girl. It’s something I’ve never understood, and grown quite tired of, hence this song being born.”

Tessa Kaye grew up in Utah, one of the few black people in a Mormon town. She moved to Los Angeles a couple years back to pursue her dream of being a successful singer, songwriter. “Smile More” is only her third single release to date with Tessa Kaye already receiving much notoriety in the music industry.
