0STAIND’s Mike Mushok On The Band’s Summer 2021 Tour With Korn, The New “Live: It’s Been Awhile” Album & Future Plans
STAIND — comprised of lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Aaron Lewis, lead guitarist Mike Mushok, bassist and backing vocalist Johnny April and drummer Sal Giancarelli — formed in 1995 in Springfield, Massachusetts. Over the course of its career, the band has released 7 studio albums and 8 Top 10 singles, selling over 15 million albums worldwide. 2001’s Break The Cycle is RIAA-certified 5x platinum and features the smash single, “It’s Been Awhile,” one of the most played songs in modern rock radio history; “It’s Been Awhile” notably spending 20 weeks at #1. In 2019 after a five-year hiatus, STAIND reunited for some unforgettable festival performances and a hometown reunion show at Foxwoods Casino in Connecticut, where the group’s Live: It’s Been Awhile was recorded.
Earlier this week it was announced that STAIND is hitting the road with KORN for U.S. summer tour, as produced by Live Nation. The coast-to-coast 28-city outing will kick off August 5, 2021 in West Palm Beach, Florida and wrap with a performance at Dallas, Texas’ Dos Equis Pavilion on September 21, 2021. Furthermore, both bands will perform at Louisville, Kentucky’s Louder Than Life Festival on September 23rd. General on-sale for this tour kicks off tomorrow, May 14, 2021 via Live Nation.
On May 13, 2021, I had the pleasure of speaking with STAIND guitarist Mike Mushok — also a co-founder of the band Saint Asonia — via Zoom, as embedded below. We not only spoke about Live: It’s Been Awhile and the group’s Summer 2021 tour alongside Korn, but also future plans beyond 2021 for STAIND, his music outside of STAIND, guitar influences, Massachusetts and being in a “serious” band while having a sense of humor. More on STAIND can be found here, here, here and here.
