Bellator MMA’s Matt Mitrione On Training For “Bellator 262,” Indiana, Music, Television & More

Bellator is a leading global MMA and kickboxing promotion featuring many of the best athletes in the world. Under the direction of veteran fight promoter Scott Coker, Bellator events take place in major cities around the world and can be seen on television in over 160 countries to an available audience of over 1 billion people. In the States, Bellator events from all over the world can be seen on Showtime — a new TV deal announced earlier this year — and online via Pluto TV and Bellator’s YouTube channel.

Bellator’s next big event is Bellator 262: Velasquez vs. Kielholtz, as set to take place at Uncasville, Connecticut’s Mohegan Sun Arena on July 16, 2021. Besides the headlining fight of Juliana Velasquez versus Denise Kielholtz, the card is set to include a battle between Matt Mitrione and Tyrell Fortune. Mitrione is in rare company as not only an 12-year MMA veteran — he appeared on the 10th season of The Ultimate Fighter — but also having played a few seasons in the NFL. He holds victories against some of MMA’s greats, including Fedor Emelianenko, Roy Nelson and Kimbo Slice.

I had the pleasure of speaking with Matt Mitrione via Zoom on July 7, 2021, as embedded below. More on Mitrione and Bellator 262 can be found online via www.instagram.com/bellatormma, www.twitter.com/bellatormma, www.facebook.com/BellatorMMA and www.bellator.com.
